The Sakura (cherry blossoms) were in full bloom June 1st and 2nd in New York. I went to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for Sakura Matsuri (the Cherry Blossom festival) and also Central park this weekend. Here are some pictures.
Approaching the Sakura. Can you see them through the trees?
People sitting and standing under the trees.

This is a different kind of sakura. It seems to be weeping.
The BBG has a beautiful Japanese garden. I'm sure it can be enjoyed all year.
More of the garden. Some lucky turtles live here.
These people put on a very silly play. It was quite funny.
This man is a master and teacher of the shakuhachi. If you've never heard a shakuhachi, it has a very beautiful sound. It was used for Zen meditation in Japan. You can visit his web site here.
There were also some interesting people to watch at the festival.
Here is a picture of a couple of sakura trees in Central Park. Can you see the little girl playing in the fallen blossoms?
Thanks for visiting. I hope you can enjoy sakura as well.
