....and now thoughts on pvp
Forkus has alot of fun in PVP in World of Warcraft, however, after countless hours of pvping, he's complied a handy list of PVP thoughts.
1. While pvping in a large raid or group, target your less than 60 folk when you don't see the enemy.
Let's face it, a 41ish lvl shaman or hunter is irrestible to a 60th level toon. You can't resist killing them, you factor in that your spells will hit for more, hurt more, damage more, fire burns better, etc etc... Often while waiting for the enemy to regroup I'll target my lower level buddies knowing full well that if I was the bad guy and I just respawned, I'd go for that 41st level shaman in a heart beat. I've seen it happen countless times, last night in fact even. So keep an eye on yer lowbies, they are yer raid buddies and.. they are bait.
2. When presented with aggressive numbers, kill their young first.
Often while at the crossroads or tarren mill, the horde is out numbered and as a result, you die alot more often than you'd like. Sometimes a less than 60th level alliance guy likes to get in on the fun as well, after all, we are taking a smack down and such. Nothing says FU in game then avoiding the 60's and devilishly going after the lower level guys. I mean they are in the pack the 60's to gloat and revel in your demise, so return the favor, kill them first. Sometimes I'll sick just the pet on them, i think its hilarious to see this imp run out into the desert just to kill the low level guy hangin with the badass folk.
3. Resist the bait, if yer under 40 don't get flagged unless you want to die.
Beware the low level bait. Typically a low level toon flagged and standing around is not usually alone. In fact, its just bait, and sooo often ive seen soo many of our horde brothern fall for this trick. The crossroads is filled with aspiring young players and a sneaky alliance rogue loves a cheap kill. They'll act hurt, throw in a decoy lowbie to die, just to get as many people as possible to turn on their pvp flag and then schools out folks, that rogue is goin to town on yee!
4. Speak softly and carry and discoumbatulator ray.
Engineering is one of the best trades to have if you like to pvp. Personally what's even better is the items you can make that don't require engineering to use, like the discombatulator ray. This simple 5 charge ray guy turns an enemy into a leper gnome for 10 seconds. During that time, the enemy has its attack power and spell power reduced and its speed slowed a bit. Seems fairly harmless and its more annoying or silly at best..however.. it doesn't take engineering to use and...it dismounts people. Thats the best part of the ray. Nothing more hilarious than chasing down a high level enemy who thinks "you cant stop me, i'm mounted!" and then it hits them, leper gnome, slowed, feared, dotted, caught on fire, bolted, conflagged... dead! The ray is a must in Alterac Valley where the enemy loves to mount and run past you, well.. we'll solve that- ZAP!
5. If you want to pvp, pick a body type you can handle.
I love pvping with Forkus, he's undead, small, and nimble. Badcow is massive, slow, and did i mention slow? When I turn Badcow into a skeleton he's not bad to pvp with, but its his big lumbering tauren form that drives me bonkers. I bet gnomes would be a blast in pvp, so small!
6. Nuff said but rarely done - Kill the healers first.
You always hear that in battle..."kill the healers first!" but people rarely listen. Last night 2 paladins, a priest and a druid made a warrior a living invincible god at the crossroads. Everyone seemed to focus on the warrior and this guy just never died. You'd get him down to 10% and bam he was full health again. Once folks got trained on the healers the battle shifted a bit.
7. Say Hello and Goodbye with Amp Weakness.
Amplify weakness is a fun annoying ability for locks. Weakness makes the enemy hit for less, amplified weakness makes the enemy hit for alot less. Hunters love to sick their fast attacking pets on people in pvp, and those cats can be annoying, but with amp weakness those 55 hits per second turn in 7 hits.. how laughable is that, especially to the hunter used to seeing their pet dish out great damage, now their cat is a kitten and every second it attacks they see that orange number float up... 7...12... 10.. haha! Great damage there from a 60th level pet. Amp weakness is also a fun way to say goodbye to a rogue who has stun locked the crap outa you. Sure it doesn't kill their damage, but it changes what they expect to see, and nothing is more annoying than having yer expectations not met. Sure i'll be dead soon, but you my rogue friend will experience the joy of -52 damage from every swing in yer little body for the next 2 minutes.. enjoy! One thing to keep in mind, they will remember you, and they will find you if you amp weakness them. Rogues never forget who changed their expectations.
