Ok now for some late nite vid goodness. Lately I've been torrenting different anime and live action vids. On the animation side of things I'm always amazed at the quality of work coming out of a studio in japan called Gonzo. They merge alot of 3D style animation into 2D cel looking anime. Now its all done on pcs these days. Alot of photoshop, avid, after effects you name it, its all in there. But the formula they've arrived at, the final blend of it, works damn good. Even when some aspects scream 3d, they still have beautiful blending of 2d. Check out this ( all japanese sorry ) Special Program clip on Samurai 7. Gonzo's new look, an even more refined version of what they've been crankin out lately can be seen in this new series coming out that looks like a futuristic yet classical version of the Count of Monte Cristo tale. Its very blended, I think theres a ton of effects happening here, yet it retains the overall kick ass Gonzo label look.
Gonzo is also the studio behind Yukikaze which is without a doubt one THE best looking aerospace genre looking animes on the planet. If you liked anything Macross style or just like planes and jets etc, this anime is incredible to watch.
