Familiar Stranger

As humans we live and interact across a wildly diverse set of physical spaces. We each formulate our own personal meaning of place using a myriad of observable cues such as public-private, large-small, daytime-nighttime, loud-quiet, and crowded-empty. Unsurprisingly, it is the people with which we share such spaces that dominate our perception of place. Sometimes these people are friends, family and colleagues. More often, and particularly in public urban spaces we inhabit, the individuals who affect us are ones that we repeatedly observe and yet do not directly interact with – our Familiar Strangers.

flooz changes

Theres been a few updates on floozy lately. First off I've added some new links. Flash-Enabled is a gizmodo like blog show casing the usual new and interesting gizmos on the planet. All Consuming is a website that watches weblogs for books that they're talking about, and displays the most popular ones on an hourly basis. Its kinda cool seeing what other folks are reading and the general trends for certain books to be more popular than others. I'm always looking for a new book to read.. not that I ever get around to reading them though. I still need to finish the Luck Factor, Tipping Point and Reefer Madness. Gude to Ease is along the same vein as Smart Mobs, its an insightful look into research trends today and the technology that continues to expand our vision of what is research. Its hard to explain other than theres something great connections on this site. Smart Mobs still carries the crown on the next social evolution that is taking place right now. Akikalive is also another take on the gizmodo webl blog concept, this time however I feel the news is more straight from the streets of Akihabara and less filtered. Is gizmodo getting a bit too commerical? Not really just more sources better. The idea of links on floozy is sites I go to everyday, tunning in and discovering todays tasty bites.

gettin in the mood... fer light

At last they've arrived! Look ma! candela's, everyone be happy, we have candela's! What the hell are those? My rechargable candles man, its all the rage these days. Actually I've been wanting to try these candelas out for sometime now. They won a design award about year ago and ever since then I've been watching them fall in price and appear somewhere I could find them and buy them other than some trendy ultra not-no-where-ever-comin-here locales like Paris design centers and such. For a good 8 months they were no where on the map aside from seeing them in design mags and in far away non online places. However my most recent trip to Think Geek had them so presto instant buy there. For more info on candela and I'd check them out at think geek or their main site, vessel.

I suppose I could just make my own.. nah!

Why? Aren't candles better? The real thing man... true candles are better, or more tradtional and I like that but lately i've had a thing for light related furniture fixtures and accessories.. its a kind of interior design piece that is currently in boom in my opinion. Mood fixtures, light pieces, the ambient orb you name it. The candela is just one item out of six or so I really want to get my hands on. If anything its the most accessible "mood light" product ive seen yet next to the ambient orb which btw now has the brother beacon. Did ya know the the ambient orb has a .net support library? Pretty niffty eh? It also has an unofficial support site, meaning its not just useful to tellin ya that the stocks went up or down, you could program it to tell ya when floozy was updated, or when normal got a new email.

So what are the other five mood light products? Aside from things like trippy oil light projectors that make yer bedroom turn into a ravers disco wonder land, there is the mood light panel. Which is basic four square panel that by itself isnt all that amazing but a few of them tacked on a wall with computer control or audio sensing triggers.. well thats kinda cool. But watch the video for that. Maybe this another mood light device I need...ha.. don't think so, but I like the usb.

Without a doubt something from Mathmos would be the next on the list of mood light items I'd want. I mean they are really cool. Look at all those colors! So many little items too, lamps, and funky shapes, that is cool stuff. Maybe i'll get a glowing sink next... who knows so many glowing things out there.

eyes

Do you have any idea what it’s like to have two people look at you through the same pair of unrequited eyes?

It’s quite a thrill.

grundy

Hey, it's grundy. Dan has apparently made me a new author for floozyspeak. I knew Dan back in ADV times (he was Trailer Dan then... but that is a different story). So he has graciously allowed me to babble on his blog, as I am currently blogless, a fact which causes me great embarresment, since I currently own (and pay $29.95 a month for) two websites that are completely blank! But anyway... just wanted to introduce myself... will be back with much mindless ranting... mostly about centeredness and Monkey Boy.

Fish & Hami

Anyone who knows me knows i often have six ideas in my head at all times. At this moment im considering Vann Swann, Talkin Crap, GatorNation, Fish & Hami, daNotes, and floozyspeak... While it can be chaos, its also nice to be filled with ideas. Fresh ideas motivate me, provided i get over the limitations of what i can do and cannot and accept that.

Fish & Hami is currently up to the plate. Its a concept like Dark Kitty, a comic story I created in Texas. I never fully fleshed out the characters because like Dark Kitty, i cant create it alone, i cant manifest them without help. Liz was my artist on Dark Kitty, and now Don an artist ive met thru Grundy (my muse most of my creations in texas) has helped me spark the creation of Fish & Hami.

Fish & Hami is a story about a fish and hamster set in xfiles/csi/noir style universe. All my stuff has a dark twist of comedy in it and Fish & Hami follow that theme. Fish can see crimes as they occur, hes like a precog seeing the darkness in man and he wanders around often, most of the time ending up at the scene of the crime. Hami is his hamster partner that is like an ex-comando with bullets across his chest and puffin a cigar. He does the talking and while he doesnt have Fish's precog abilities he knows what has happened at the scene buy having super csi like intution skill. He typically does the talking yet ive never scripted a word for either of them. I know Fish wont talk, hes all about expression in his face and the context around him. Like Dark Kitty, where I had no real purpose or story or message just wanted to do something, Fish and Hami, while they see the crimes and know what happened, dont solve anything. Its more about their journey and how events unfold around them and how its all just known to them. I dunno, the first few episodes will be bizzare im sure or utterly boring, it'll be a mood piece, like a strange music video. I cant wait to get it going.

To start Don is working up concepts of how they'd look, i have a rough idea as does Grundy. Everything starts somewhere and for me, well I like to edit, so we're putting together an opening sequence. For years ive wanted to make my own animation make my own opening sequence that introduces an audiance to what is about to happen, the visual cues an opening sequence gives to the content that lies ahead is really facisnating to me. In anime, the best animation of the epsiode and sometimes the whole series is in that opening sequence, it sets the tone of the show, the mood, everything. So thats our first goal. Create an opening sequence to Fish & Hami.

The song is picked. And tonight i put together the storyboard.

a few notes

background plate is anything, odds are it will be either a still that we create or motion video, most likey it will be a background of sorts, a house, a train, a dumpster, a street, the city, the subway etc, exterior shot

crime shot is a focused piece critical to the story, its a piece of evidence, its an element of what occured, the murder weapon, the laughing dog, the injection needle, the gauge on a resperator, the caution tape unfolding, the chalk of drawing, cops talking, cops eatin donuts, a car sputters away etc

title slate, is a graphical element, its a text effect or title of the show, the characters, the creators etc

fish character, thats fish, its either a still of him or an animation of him, he walks by, the camera zooms outa him and fades him to black etc

hami character, thats hami, its either a still of him or an animation of him, he walks by, the camera zooms outa him and fades him to black etc

The storyboard.

gettin a ryze outa me

heh.. get it.. gettin a ryze.. outa me.. get it eh? HA! Ok ok theres friendster, rappster, dudeinwhiteshirtster and now ryze! RYZE up friends and joing the within of in! I didn't really make it friendster in time and most of the friends know were kinda anti-friendster, another rage of something that once it hits, its passe time to move on. Rappster I don't have but i think it could be a great system linking rappers together. Dudeinawhiteshirtster is a fake, still a worthy name.

Ryze however is a business networking system, a social peer to peer yadda dadda. I'm trying it out as an experiement really. Since i've joined numerous people have signed my guestbook and wished me a collective wellbeing not that unlike JW clappin on the front door, it reminds me a bit of mIRC, you belong so we talk to you, you joined the channel welcome and now talk.. TALK damn you.

Actually Ryze could be interesting but I get requests in email "so and so has asked to be your friend!" and I honestly don't know really, do i be their friend just cause or should i have reason or some kind of simmilar interest? I check them out and i'm not really interested, i mean not enough to warrant a full time friend commitment, i mean I piss off my own friends enough, do these people really know what they are asking? Seems so they are demanding it. So is it more a collective of who ya know? I mean i have nothing to do with that guy, is he just collecting me, another name in the pile of people he knows or am i really a friend. I dunno, thats kinda odd. I think ill just take it a step ata time. Course Ryze gives me my friend statistics, you have x number of friends, x number are linked to you via x and x is what is most common that is with x at least. I get comparable stats, how many hits i get vs the norm, do i wanna be norm?

Even now as i type this Outlook tells me "you got another friend!". So what is it about these networks of people thats so attractive? We all wanna belong i suppose and I guess its good collective meet people kinda space, course if I wanna upgrade and pay i get even more perks for my $10 a month.. $10 a month?!? Thats cutting into my game subscriptions man... Ryze vs EQ.. whos gonna win folks... HA!

Some of my friends on Ryze are rather lack luster, Clint for example has not filled out any of his nitty gritty info.. what is HE hiding! George however he's down with the rest of us, even got a pic up there, good job George!

A good and bad aspect of Ryze is all these networks to join, some of them good others just more websites of sheer direct mail spam induced BUY NOW evangeliism. But its also strangely addicting.. cause ya click on folks and discover yet another network you couldnt find before with their own search engine. Why? I dunno its funny though. Don't expect Ryze's own search engine to know how to connect things like video to multimedia, it just doesnt know how to connect those concepts. Yet I keep finding all kinds of groups that relate to what i was interested in simply by stumbling thru the Ryze universe of people. Another thing thats bothersome is the naming schemes networks can have, for example "Market

an example of one persons network list

"Privacy & Data Security, MoNET (mobility/wireless), Design Asylum, Venture Capital / Private Equity Banking, Blogs & Bloggers, Entrepreneurs, BoldVentures - business networking group, toolsforthinking, "TLC"/ Technology Leaders Supper Club, Ryze New York City, Entertainment Industry, Advertising Strategy and Creative Network, Biotech-Pharma, Where Technology and Business Meets, Un-Marketing: Bringing customers to you..., Connective Sales : Selling Without Selling, BizDev Network: Sales & Marketing, Small Business Owners, International Business, Web of Finance, SF Bay Area Startup Companies, Product Marketing and Strategy, Small Business Referral Networking, Green Elephants: Lucrative Online Content Models, Public Speaking - The Essential Skill, The Blogalization Community, Broadband and Interactive TV Interests, Social software, Real Estate Investing, Behavior, VisionQuest, ADVERTISING BROKERS Par Excellence!, Direct Selling, CEO, Brand Futures, Anything Italian, Mobile Applications(Messaging,Java,3G,LBS,PDA ), Web Developers Collective, Wireless for Breakfast, Internet Marketing - Creating Online Profits, Free Agent Nation, Homeland & National Security Business, Smart Parents, Smart Kids, mac, The Art and Science of Catching Gophers, Game Development Professionals, World Wide Web Artists' Consortium, Worldwide Knowledge Management Forum, Networkers Marketing, You want WHAT done by WHEN with HOW MUCH?, New York Indie Film Network, DUMBO, Sparrows Heartbeat - Discussion, The B2B Zeeners, Sales&Marketingrepresentationforphotography, Strategies for Retiring Young, Soon, and Wealthy, International Hookup, Media Professionals, Spam-Fighters, Bling, Sibilance, Life Sciences Biotech Funding, Wireless Data Services and Mobile Multimedia, ***Communication Agents***, Corporate Politics: Navigation & Triumph, Data Mining and Analytics, "

I like things like "Sales&Marketingrepresentationforphotography" ya thats a whole new word in Ryze's search engine i bet. Still ya gotta love some of these network names... I didn't see a Sponng Network, and I thought that was all the rage these days.

Croc Hunter Challenge

Hey… it’s Gator Dave… about to embark on a new endeavor… Crocodiles. That’s right, crocodiles… those ornery little devils that act like alligators on crack. Tomorrow I will be starting the application process for the Croc Hunter Challenge. If you watch Animal Planet at all you will soon see more of this new “reality” show coming in the spring. I hope that JD will help me edit my some 2 hrs of video into 3 mins. (He’s done that before) for my video audition in hopes of being able to audition in New York or Chicago in January. What is this Challenge, you may ask? Well this is a chance for ten people to accompany The Croc Hunter, Steve Irwin, to his zoo in Australia and work for two months. The end result will be a winner who will get to travel around the continent. I believe there will be some exciting challenges up to and including feeding and handling a variety of animals. More info can be found at www.crocodilehunter.com. I will keep you up to date on details. Crikey, mate!!! Look at the size of those teeth!!! Now that’s a big bloke.

If there is anyone who may be of help in any way at helping me succeed, including helping me revamp my website and move it, let me know. The current site is www.angelfire.com/ga4/gatordave/. I need all the help I can get. I may also need someone to watch my dogs while I’m gone. The challenge lasts 60 days, February thru April.

Stay tuned.

social network analysis

Smart Mobs lauched me into a fury of linkage madness in the arena of Social Network Analysis discussions and software.. I'm always looking for yet another interesting software app. I found a few. I'll talk about them later. I posted this on normal but no one even took a bite at it.. I think its amazing!

PS: It's ok Dave, I'm with ya man!

Back to the Present

Sometimes when I talk to JD it’s like… what the hell are you talkin’ about… if that’s too future, then there ya go. By the sixth time I’m like… what the hell are you talkin’ about. Definitely too future.

Gator Dave is all too not too future. Did that make any sense whatsoever? If anything Dave (or , I, because I’m talking in the third) can relate more to alligators than to most people. Am I just plain stupid, or is almost everyone around me a little short on the grey? I don’t know, I don’t like to theorize about that kind of stuff because it makes my head hurt. I’m pretty simple really… I listen to what I think is good music, I play what I think is good music on my guitar, I love my dog, I try to be kind to others and I visit my church regularly. Oh yeah, and I really, really love animals. Speaking of which… gator dave had his official Columbus debut recently doing a program for a group of cub scouts. The topic of the program… conservation and alligators. Go figure that. A smashing success… dave dreams of more programs to come. But now the lattes must flow because the bills gotta get paid.

Speaking of bills getting paid and seeing old friends… well I wasn’t speaking of old friends, but I am now… I keep seeing my friend from the past, Jenny Shauf, on a Safe Auto commercial. You may have seen it. It is the one where the man and woman (main spokespeople) get out of the back of a mini-van and startle a young woman. That young woman then proceeds to get into her van and tell the spokespeople that her roommate is in the apartment. They then go to the front door and a woman comes to the door in curlers and says a sultry… “hi”. Well Jenny is the girl in the van. I used to sing with her about 10 years ago. Anyway to make a long story longer… I saw her serving at The Cheesecake Factory when I was there with my friend Leah over the weekend. I didn’t say anything to her, but I may go back over and say “hi” myself, but not in a sultry way.

JD was right a few postings ago and I agree… since we haven’t had a Talkin’ Crap in a while… that all of the recent movies all have positive ratings from reviewers. My view is that until fairly recently there were only a few reputable sources to go to when finding out about a movie. Now it seems that everyone and there mother has an opinion on any given movie and the advertisers can just pick out the best one and post it with the ad. You just have to find someone you trust in to look to for advise. We hope with Talkin’ Crap you will come to us for advise. I promise that we will try to review more movies soon or find other places for you to find GOOD advice on movies.

I know… it’s been a while… stop talking dave. Well I’ve only got two more things. First, I know why the Buckeyes have been having close games. They are trying to drum up business for the new heart hospital. I think 3 or 4 people in my section at the game had heart attacks from the last few seconds of regulation until the end of the overtime. Sorry, Dan, I know you don’t understand this, but I don’t know computer talk… so bear with me. It gets better. I was on the Jumbotron in the Shoe during the 3rd quarter. That’s right just Gator Dave on the big TV, in front of 105,000 people in Ohio State Stadium all by my lonesome. I was the only one standing up in my section (watching the Best Damn Band in the Land) and I look up and there is my mug on the Tron. I pointed at the camera and mouthed “Go Bucks… number 1… yeah!!!”. No actual words, just lip movement because I know that the stadium can’t hear me… I have witnesses. My cousin, who is in the band, saw me, as did my friend Erin from work. Simple pleasures here. How about number 2 in the BCS?

Lastly, what is with newer model, silver BMW sedan that I saw at the Walgreens in Dublin with the bullet hole stickers going down the side. It had to have been a 2000 or newer. Why? Bullet hole stickers are for late 70’s, early 80’s red Toyota trucks with much rust, not a new BMW.

The moral of the story… you have just now been sent back from the future to the present by Dave’s posting.

sometimes

I get the sense the world isn't ready for me yet. Ideas just flow outa me and seems like 80% of the time they go right over folks. Maybe the world isn't ready for me yet. I think I need a personal assistant to help make them, no force them into reality regardless if anyone needs them or not. Or maybe its the stages of an idea, right outa the gate, the raw form is hard to swallow, a second pass is a bit better, third stage and its scary and incomplete, by the fourth round people are asleep, the fifth level and folks are back to the table but no ones listening, the sixth degree and we've got it but why and how did we get here... six stages of blissful development. Or maybe.. none at all. Shelve the idea before it manifests. Or as I was told today "too future... yer too future dan..." Too future? Am I too future?

I sure don't feel too future, some of my best ideas seemed too future and ya know what... someone made them in to reality. Are you too future?

source fridge

A few rants before I get down to ramblin. Have you noticed that just about every flick that comes out these days is THUMBS UP? Remember when "thumbs up" actually meant something? Nowadays, everything is thumbs up! The whole debate over movies, the tug of war over differences died with Siskel. Ebert is just a sell out, everything is thumbs up! Thumbs Up used to be awarded, it was medal of cinematic honor, well for those that valued the critics that bestowed those values, in any case to me, its all thumbs up!

I like the current time were in. SciFi and reality are catching up, every day Gizmodo tells me of yet another tale turned reality. Invention keeps on inventing. But the movies and such, the distance isnt as vast as it used to be. Movies arent that far into the future, well we need Aliens back maybe but all these "this computer took over that computer and took over the world......" ya know thats just not far away from reality. Sure aspects of it are, but the core concept isnt. Maybe thats why games like Call of Duty and B1942 etc sell so well, sure we're in the age of smart bombs but ya still gotta go toe to toe with people to press yer agenda. Hence the situation we got now in Iraq. We came, we conqured, and we're losing every day. I'm sure we had a good idea going in, we had solid propaganda, gotta get those weapons of mass destruction, sure we cant find them but they were bad! Well theres the ramble for ya... Dancing on present reality works, maybe cause no matter how in tune we are with our creations, were never close enough cause it all keeps changing. The hammer, we figured that out, no more mysteries there, but this computer thing, limitless it seems. And good stories perhaps leap off the cliff of plasuable reality, that could be possible so I get into more vs Aliens vs Predator? Get outa town! Sure to be good match up though. Maybe i'm tired of pseudo reality scifi adventures that arent so far off... maybe i need a fresh taste of scifi. Granted I love the material of computer assisted reality gone bad. I just expect more from hollywood and its 65 million dollar adventures. I dont need more dazzlement in the way of effects, i need more wonder in the way of story and character development.

So what is fresh for me? Jason, the Rat in houston used to talk of Fresh all the time as if it was a state of mind. Stay Fresh! That's Fresh! Where's my source of Fresh? Not in my fridge thats for sure. Mike you need to come over and eat my ginger things in the fridge.. im saving them for you. Fresh for me, and its never failed me is Obey Giant. Sure one of many reliable sources of ultimate freshness. Its relaxing to me, I see the order in it, I see the simple propaganda artistic freedom of it. Creating yer own posse for the sheer hell of it, I like that. Its like Dark Kitty, its new, its reborn, it keeps going.

New Ghost in The Shell 2 trailer. Personally, I'm a fan of obvious 3d animation techinques, that is animation traits that tell the user, "hey im 3d" vs the lets hope no one figures it out effect. Cause it just doesn't work as well for me, especially in japanese animation. Some shows do it really well, Voice of a Distant Star, Vandread.

Well Designed is a site I like mainly just to suck template and layout ideas from. I did actually buy a site design from them, and I got the whole newyorker hit squad kinda response. Least every time i hear that newyorker accent on the phone i instantly think I'm getting screwed. I dunno, just shifty I say, shifty. So anyways I need to put it up. Still the site is a good place to visit and go "ya.. that look!" Nina, see here.

TShirtHell is a new site I stumbled upon the other day, some great t-shirt concepts in here, ready to order as well. Pick some up! I like EAST COAST LAWNMOWERS the best so far...

I watched an 60min segment today on G4 about Metal Arms, a new game coming out for the consoles. This game looks like a ton of fun. You TIVO addicts out there with G4, watch, er tivo the segment, its really good.

Not that anyone I know would do it, but Savage does come with an editor... And this little tutorial helps a bit in making your own maps.

Mood Light is cool, I want more mood-light enabled things, anything, vases, floor panels, wall panels, lamps, chairs, anything.. I like it!

We're all connected.. but would we use it?

Nice tech blog and i'm not sure you'd want to use it.. but hey heres a good JPEG to ASCII converter.

Know your movie fonts! Wait a sec who on here will really use those? Clint maybe? Nik? ELLLLOO NIK!

Magic Pony is takin on Kid Robot...

Here's a nice collection of inspirational material.. that is if you think like me.. if not.. sok still some good sites on here, fonts, graphics, designs, etc.

Designer Info is a site worth checking out for you creative types.. I'm a review hound, i'm always on the hunt for a review.. this site gives out pretty decent reviews.

Say Amiga fans, did ya ever use TVPaint? Well it got bought by Newtek long ago and turned into Aura, which is now Mirage. Weeeee

a few things

A quick recap on whats watching here at the flooz.

Endurance, the Story of Ernest Shackleton, dvd, good, go rent it. Pretty amazing stuff.

Charlie Angels Full Throttle, dvd, what the hell happened here? Man this movie was a commerical of promo oo look at my wavy funky font style crap, very sad, and stunts that are sooo beyond the real, its funny and the freaky irish guy what are you subplot b? horrible... a great example of no matter how much $$$$$ ya got, you can still make a crappy flick.

Bulletproof Monk, dvd, chow yun doesnt do martial arts, hes all guns baby, the monk isnt believable for me, not a bad flick until the old nazi guy broke out the star trek displays and presented his underground, HYDRO!, evil cave, all so bad, bad bad bad...

Hulk, dvd, not bad commentaries and effect extras, watching the hulk smash is good

Comedian - Jerry Sienfield, dvd, a nice documentry on what it takes to do stand up comedy, looks free - addicitive and sad all at the same time, heh, i dunno. Good dvd though.

Ringu, dvd, the original japanese version before de americans redid it, i dunno bet the american version will have more punch, it was ok, kinda dragged.

hey i hear yer wounded!

I think its funny people tend to come outa the woodwork and talk to ya when they know something is up on yer end, and they like fish for info. Its the classic "hey i heard you were wounded, hows it going!!?" thing. Least it always feels that way. Like when all is well yer off the map but then when they know you crashed yer car or something, they call and say "dude dan how ya doing man.. long time no see.. umm ya... dude how are you...." and then you can battle them off ignoring the obvious digs and say whatever, eventually though they strike..."dude i heard about car... ya...." or they dont strike and they just hang on the cliff of plasuable reason... like the odd silence ya get when no one laughs to a joke, it suspends time and space, everything in a standstill..... and then someone breaks.

I need to learn the art of reverse discussion tactics. They say "hey" I respond with "wood chipper" or something, or maybe go into telemarker mode and sell them something i dont care about. "ya dude good talkin to ya.. hey i got this deal on cat litter, bought a ton off ebay want some? its gonna pay off my mortage.. its gonna be sweet..." and then with that ball in their court then see how they deal with it.

Problem is ive never been good at the "ya things fine" and thats it, I ramble, see i ramble here. Its in my nature to express and explore and expose.. so folks who know that factor that in and bait me into conversations.

BTW this has nothing to do with, normal, personal or work.. just an observation in general. So dont fish!

andro cosmetic

I've been working on a new visual piece. I tend to generate names, words and phrases that just come to me, bits of something somewhere saying hey write me down, so I do. Andro Cosmetic is one of these phrases. From here I start to think what could this be used for, then typically i have two or three songs buzzing in my head saying edit to me, i could be fun to edit to.

So I go back to whats available, xfrog after effected footage, I have lots of it. One piece in partiular i thought would make for a cool logo segment for fashionpixel. Before ya know it, i have Andro Cosmetic the music and the xfrog all together on the timeline in the Avid.

From here I start to think what this visual piece could be about. What is it about Andro Cosmetic, the haunting music distorted vocal track and xfrog.. whats it all mean. Obviously not finished. I do have an idea where its all going. I just have to flesh the rest outa me, and decide, more importantly if its going to be all computer generated artisct renditions of what I want or, live action! Yes I thought of shooting video of people for this piece, people and technology, figuring out what Andro Cosmetic means to me.

Andro Cosmetic 20 MEG quicktime MPEG 4 opening piece.

state of the flooz

And so it begins... well it was supposed to get colder. Maybe later this week they tell me. So the state of the flooz what is it? Hmmm lets see here, ok ok.

Hiptop Updated! Yes amazingly so, the TMobile sent me a brand new Hiptop and I got the new software update. Big deal eh? Well it is in the hiptop/sidekick community. We can cut and paste now man, can yer phone do that?!? WELL? Can it!?!? The big hoodat for me right away without looking at the new update is ooo a calculator! Thats what I want!!

So to see the Matrix or not see the Matrix today, that is the question. Part of me, apparently the evil side of me, really wants to see it today. Why? Cause. Thats all just cause. I wanna see it. But I guess i could hold off another day and see it with the Graves gang yet at this point id still get pelted with stones so why bother and just go see it today and then see it again tomorrow if they even do that. See thats just it, seeing it tomorrow for thursday action isnt even assured neo-ness for me since its a vote, so why be left out in the cold, i say go see it today and then tomorrow, when the vote is pro planetside you'll be covered. But im self centered and evil or so they say. Which i think is funny but apparently true! I'm a self serving bastard, which in some ways is over due for me i think. I think all creators, leos, etc are self serving bastards, we create stuff for ourselves, bastard, we come up with our own stories, bastard, we make ourselves laugh (all the time) nothing is more evil than that.

So what else is new on the self serving bastard report. Lets see here, I have some video of the Montana trip to show, once mister fpt feels better. Maybe I'll put it on the lextant side for the moment, I think Troy is havin some technical probs with the server magic. I have a new piece coming out, started as a name for one of my Vann Swann compliations and now its turned into a visual motion piece... very cool actually. I found a cool way to do the intro titles on it last night.. i really like the effect, ill post here in a bit.

I'm in the works of having an artist work with me on.. yes.. Dark Kitty again. I've been watching alot of anime lately. One of the ideas I came up with last week was, to storyboard deconstruct a typical anime openning. Usually its 2-3mins of music, with all the standard japanese credits for who made the show, who did character designs etc, and bits of the show's core content either animated or slideshowish effected. So I wanted to do that for either Dark Kitty or Fish and Hami another concept i created back in texas. So Grundy hooks me up with an artist, and now that i've deconstructed an episode of anime, i kinda have a good feel for what needs to move vs what doesnt need to move so that i can figure out whats going to be a bitch to do vs, whats clever camera action. It still suprises me though it shouldnt that audio can do so much of the emotion and movement of a piece with actually doing anything video animation wise. Especially on these new pieces comin out of Bandai, they save every bit of expensive fluid animation budget just for the critical motion pieces, the rest is all about "what can i do to save money and still convey that theres something happening here". Its kind of fun to watch really.

I like the subtle effects that have deeper meaning, I mean thats what Dark Kitty was about, the deeper meaning, course we never really made it clear what any of it meant, it was just art with a twisted plot. I sorta want to get back to that, and rather then trying to over commit and struggle with 30mins, im considering more like 10min shorts of various flicks. I know i strong material for Fish and Hami, Mr Fluffers, Dark Kitty and maybe three others, so I may try for a strange kind of Robot Carnival type show, a combination of theme'd animes or something. Doing the opening sequence for Fish and Hami is currently the first real test.

I have five new posters to frame.. gah! 2 obey giants, 2 cowtown arts (ha!), and 1 something from log ago.. my first ever silk screen, wait a sec maybe thats more of a wood block art thing, anyways when i was in 7th grade or something. Its a cool bird, a steel bird thing, very strange. Mama save for me. Moms are great they save everything, put it in art tubes, organize it all and then spring it on ya some 20 years later.

Not much new on the gaming front, tried Final Fantasy XI, it was a bust me no likey that virtual world. Something about what grows up on the console should stay on the console. I dont think it looks that good on the PC. Call of Duty on the other hand, now thats pretty cool. Its another WW2 epic slaughter fest wtih blazin machine guns. Course I keep coming back to Savage an online RTS meets FPS game and for those of you like gator dave and all, its cool. I havent been able to successfully infect gator dave or jon into real gaming. They are tied to the worlds of spider solitare and such, which is good in a way. I mean rehab for those addictions are peanuts compared to the addicts of old.. the addicts of EQ.

Gay November

November again… here we are, in the middle of a great indian summer. 75 degrees today. Don’t get used to it. Perfect day for visiting friends… and okay, I take showers. I try to dress well. Hopefully I smell okay as well. But… again… I’m not gay. I did find this pretty amusing. I’m very comfortable with who I am. I guess there aren’t too many clean straight guys left. I was mistaken for being gay twice today. Okay… on with the jokes. If I can take people mistaking my “gayness” for gayness then I can handle the ribbing. I’m not gonna miss any showers anytime soon, and I’m not gonna start being an assh@#e... I guess that is the way most straight guys are. Like I told my friends, both female, I like the “kitty”. I also apologized for saying the word “kitty”. Another sign of gayness? You be the judge. I’m also very polite and outward, but I’m definitely not bitchy. Not to stereotype, but most of my gay friends are a little catty. No offense and I don’t think any is taken because they admit to it, but it is true. One more time and I’ll move on… I like the “kitty”.

Had dinner with the fam this evening. Got to see my new nephew, Christian, again. Pretty cool… lots of poo, though. Oh, speaking of… why is it that your mom choses to talk about your chaffing as a result of feeding you Hi-C when you were an infant. Also the smell… in detail. Come on… how embarrassing. Why couldn’t she just confront me about being gay. That would be less embarrassing. I don’t know… I just started watching the movie that was on Oxygen. You know… the channel. Some old 80’s movie with Kevin Costner. So people do watch that channel.

Hope JD feels better… lunch appt. was interrupted by a bad burrito or something. Hope you’re feelin’ better, Dan.

Doesn’t anyone dress for Halloween anymore? The party was great Jon. Sorry Dan missed it… big sky and all. I know Stacey did all the work. Very entertaining.

My dog, Brozzie, has a play date this week with a cat. Is this a bad thing? Will this give her a complex? It’s a pretty big cat. I don’t know.

Melissa went to the Bucks game… I mean the Bucs games today in Tampa. I hope this doesn’t mean her Buckeye shirt won’t be worn again. Although I’m sure the Ohio State game we went to was much more exciting. And the Bucks won. The Bucs didn’t.

And by the way… I shave my body hair. How’s that for gay. Well… I trim. Is that better? Just thought you should know. Too much info? Like I care.

Moral of the story… shower less, avoid Costco burritos and don’t let your little dogs play with cats, or people might think you’re gay?
