Football and Halloween

With the show Scrubs on in the background, my guitar sitting up against the bed, and a half written song sitting on the computer, I sit and wonder what to write about.
“No I can’t do this all on my own, no, I’m no, I’m no superman. I’m no superman.”
Sorry, just the theme song for Scrubs.

There are many things. There are my guitar lessons, a football team, Halloween, and a movie. First, my guitar lessons. Not “my” lessons, but my lessons… I’m teaching. My first lesson. After twenty years of music, I get to teach now. It was very fun and Sophia was very attentive. She doesn’t know much about music, etc., but she has had piano lessons so there is something to build on. It’s gonna take a couple of months to see any real progress, but I think I can hold her attention to hear her play.

Next is the football team. My alma mater, Ohio State. Defense… YES. Offense…NO. That’s it. The number 6 defense in the nation and the offense that is fourth from the bottom. How is this team in the top 10? They win. They find a way to do it. Even the loss at Wisconsin should have been worse. The Bucks have nothing to lose from here on out and can still make the Rose Bowl if Mich. St. losses and we win out. There’s a little more to it than that, but the team needs to focus on the Purdue and Mich. St. games. The next two are away and will not be easy, but the prior two will be tough. On defense and special teams… keep doin what you’re doin, Bucks. On offense… come on coaches, let the passing game develop. If you are going to run the ball, use Krenzel more. Run the option, or reverse. Change it up. Stop running the ball straight ahead, it doesn’t work. We don’t have the developed talent to do that, nor is the defensive line helping. Anyway… I’m still cheerin for ya, Buckeyes. I’ve not been to a losing OSU football game yet in my twenty years of going to games… so how about some free season tickets. Also, be proud to wear that Ohio State shirt at work in Florida Melis. The Indiana game this week will be seen in Dayton, at my cousin, Sasha’s mom’s house. Party in the Buckeye room… complete with a Clown Trigger Fish with a block O on its side. That is cool!!

The big Halloween party is tomorrow at Jon’s house. Dress up, bring booze. That’s it. That’s all you have to do… Dress up, bring booze. Maybe also bring some candy. Everyone who is anyone will be there. Feel free to just show up… tell ‘em Dave the Vampyre sent you.

Lastly, Lost in Translation…. See it. This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long, long time. We will be doing a show on it upon Dan’s return from the Big Sky state next week, so be on the look out. It’s a romantic comedy written and directed by Sophia Coppella… yes Francis’ daughter. Very well done, and It didn’t cost a lot of money. How great is that. The relationships are very well developed and the humor is subtle, but great. The ending is also very good. If you never go to see another movie again in your whole life… go see this movie. I’m looking to go see it again… any takers?

The moral of the story: great friends, great football, great parties… great fun = GREAT life. Hope you’re enjoying yours.

meant the "Offensive line isn't helping". thanks... dave

Lost In Translation is a GREAT movie. I'd see it again.

congratulations on passing on your musical gift to the youth of america. and your mother said you were wasting your time.

and those buckeyes... blah blah blah... i wear the shirt to work because its the only football shirt i own, and it doesnt fare well with the miami fans (losers). i did however strike up a conversation with an older couple from dayton. and the engangement ohio joke was a HUGE hit!

and you got to see a movie alot like you... cheap and subtly humerous? hee hee- just kidding.

in my case- great weather, great beaches, great margaritas = is just ok without you.
