I've been catching up on my blogs lately. So much happening out there, its hard to keep up. I'll be revising this post as i go but so far some interesting finds like:
Well what a week! Montana was big... BIG SKY... and man when they say its big sky, its really really big sky. Hmmmm trying to sum up what all I did is tough. Lets break it down day by day.
Day 1, Great Falls Montana. Arrived in a tiny airport, snagged a car and toured downtown all 3 streets of it. Found a neat coffee bar with a great wooden bar piece, got yelled at for taking pictures of their art inside with my camera phone aka the hiptop, laughed and got some good info from the owners on things to do in Montana. Stopped by the infamous, due to GQ magazine, the Sip N Dip lounge. Its a motor inn that has a tiki bar in it, that the back bar tending wall is actually the swiming pool. On weekends from 7pm to 2am, gals dressed as mermaids swim back there. The bar is pretty cool, and its cool to see these huge glass walls to the swiming pool just behind the bar. This is a great concept, we need more of these. GQ liked it so much they rated it the #1 bar in the world worth flying to. That says alot heh. Drove to Hobson, MT population 50 or less. Stayed an sweet old B&B hosted by Jean, a 90 some year old lady standing only about 4'4 tall. Checked out the old barn she had and her huuuuuuuuuuuge dog. Watched the sun go down. By far, for me and my limited travels, the most beautiful sunset ive ever seen. The sky was like a vivid watercolor painting on fire, you got the sense you could almost touch it. The sky isnt just big, its massive and with only a few houses and farms out there, you can see for miles and theres just nothing. Its a calming yet, "oh my god" feeling. It was windy that night too, a great breeze, a truly amazing place. Ate at the local, well only one place to eat in town, the Black Bull. Food was more expensive than I thought it should be for being such a small town. The locals stared me down hard, I could feel thier thoughts all around me "why are you here, who are you.." needless to say diner was ok, pie was good. Back at the B&B i tucked in for the night. I opened a window to catch a bit of the breeze and wind gushed into my room as if it was 15mph wind or soemthing. Wow, that was cool. I could hear all the creaks of the house against the wind. This house, is like those houses in horror movies, floors creak, doors bang, and the wind howels thru your room, regardless if you got the window open or not. I love that sound. The wind just taking over in the night.
Day 2, 6am wake, eat eggs n bacon, on the ranch by 7am. The sky, again just incredible with bits of sun and cloud come to life. As if someone was painting up there, the sky just slowly came together, orange, purple, a deep gold, bursting yellow. We met our contacts and while talkin was happenin i grabbed as much of the sky coming together as possible on camera. It was breath taking and to think out here, this is like any other day in big sky montana. Got to work, talked carhartt. Herded cattle in a 4x4. Drove to Bozemen, MT. Checked into the GranTree... sadly it was just a Best Western. I was looking for something a bit more true to the scene, I didnt mind the wifi though, course the signal barely hit our rooms.
Day 3, Frontier Pies and off to West Yellowstone. Explored a bit of the park, thanks Ranger Bob, gave us some good info and we visited old faithful. Checked into the Hibernation Station. Picked it over the Holiday Inn due to its rustic log cabin feel. It was chilly, warm was not one of its features. There was a 14' hot tub though, course I forgot my suit so I didnt take part in that.
Day 4, Explored more park, saw many a bison, in fact got caught in a bison traffic jam. Thought for sure they'd take on the old Buick LeSabre we rented, they got damn close to us. I grabbed a ton of video of that btw, i'll send that up later. Headed back to Bozemen and whammo I am here. It's worth noting that I won, yes, WON, $20 bucks or so at 5cent Keno. I didn't know you could gamble in Montana, just electronic keno and poker. Hey still, I beat the machine... YES! Actually I think now I should just pick my own lottery numbers, screw the auto pick system, I want my numbers in there!
So overall Montana was very cool. I could see getting attached to a place like that. Sure it was REALLY DRY, and a weee bit nippy compared to oh-hi-o, but I liked the vast countryside and mountains. If all goes well, I'll be in Colorado next month! Last but not least.. special thanks to Jon, the apt, looks all nice, I tell ya, its the closer in him, its just automatic. I hope the party was fun, I'm sure it was.

In other news, two new glorious Obey Giant posters have arrived. Mao Money and Luggage Tag.. Oh yaaa baby yes! I have much framing to do.
Go bucks! Hiptop lives in the great Montana state. Work is done time to play. Yellowstone is the goal today. The folks on the diamond dot ranch were great. Really dry n windy here... Lotta dust here..
With the show Scrubs on in the background, my guitar sitting up against the bed, and a half written song sitting on the computer, I sit and wonder what to write about.
“No I can’t do this all on my own, no, I’m no, I’m no superman. I’m no superman.”
Sorry, just the theme song for Scrubs.
There are many things. There are my guitar lessons, a football team, Halloween, and a movie. First, my guitar lessons. Not “my” lessons, but my lessons… I’m teaching. My first lesson. After twenty years of music, I get to teach now. It was very fun and Sophia was very attentive. She doesn’t know much about music, etc., but she has had piano lessons so there is something to build on. It’s gonna take a couple of months to see any real progress, but I think I can hold her attention to hear her play.
Next is the football team. My alma mater, Ohio State. Defense… YES. Offense…NO. That’s it. The number 6 defense in the nation and the offense that is fourth from the bottom. How is this team in the top 10? They win. They find a way to do it. Even the loss at Wisconsin should have been worse. The Bucks have nothing to lose from here on out and can still make the Rose Bowl if Mich. St. losses and we win out. There’s a little more to it than that, but the team needs to focus on the Purdue and Mich. St. games. The next two are away and will not be easy, but the prior two will be tough. On defense and special teams… keep doin what you’re doin, Bucks. On offense… come on coaches, let the passing game develop. If you are going to run the ball, use Krenzel more. Run the option, or reverse. Change it up. Stop running the ball straight ahead, it doesn’t work. We don’t have the developed talent to do that, nor is the defensive line helping. Anyway… I’m still cheerin for ya, Buckeyes. I’ve not been to a losing OSU football game yet in my twenty years of going to games… so how about some free season tickets. Also, be proud to wear that Ohio State shirt at work in Florida Melis. The Indiana game this week will be seen in Dayton, at my cousin, Sasha’s mom’s house. Party in the Buckeye room… complete with a Clown Trigger Fish with a block O on its side. That is cool!!
The big Halloween party is tomorrow at Jon’s house. Dress up, bring booze. That’s it. That’s all you have to do… Dress up, bring booze. Maybe also bring some candy. Everyone who is anyone will be there. Feel free to just show up… tell ‘em Dave the Vampyre sent you.
Lastly, Lost in Translation…. See it. This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long, long time. We will be doing a show on it upon Dan’s return from the Big Sky state next week, so be on the look out. It’s a romantic comedy written and directed by Sophia Coppella… yes Francis’ daughter. Very well done, and It didn’t cost a lot of money. How great is that. The relationships are very well developed and the humor is subtle, but great. The ending is also very good. If you never go to see another movie again in your whole life… go see this movie. I’m looking to go see it again… any takers?
The moral of the story: great friends, great football, great parties… great fun = GREAT life. Hope you’re enjoying yours.
Doug Liam's Bourne Identity arrived this evening, fresh off the netflix bus. Overall the movie is good, but I always thought it was missing something, I dunno action maybe, more content, mystery maybe? Course after watching the flick I turned on the directory commentary and I swear it makes me respect the movie ten times more. I love a fresh director speakin his mind on a film production. Getting the insights on how a shot came together or why he chose not to have ooodles of action for his lead man fill in the gaps I thought were missing. A better understanding of where Doug was going helped create a better Jason Bourne in my mind. While the movie doesn't follow the book completely the character, the base characer of Bourne I think is something Robert Ludlum would of accepted.
Like the director, I too remember reading Bourne Identity in highschool and I think I kept re-reading it just about every other summer. I like books like, books you can revisit and they continue to paint pictures in your mind. Grandmaster is another book I remember reading often as a kid. Grandmaster by Warren Murphy and Molly Cochran, I remember getting it from my brother Tom as a summer must read kinda book. That was a damn good book as well, more twists and turns then Bourne Identity for sure. Another movie consideration there really.
Gator Dave is correct soon I'll be flying the friendly skies and headed for the great state of Montana. I need a break really, its monday and already i'm sayin I need a break...ya baby! So ya the mission, to talk to people about clothes. Sound simple? Kinda is, I hope to get some good video though. Sometimes we have to de-mystify a process, break it all down, is it the shoes that effect the man that does the job or is it just cause he had a bad day... hard to say, gotta go and observe good buddy.
I had sushi on saturday, good tasty sushi, it was yummy. Sake was warm and so so, I miss the cold sake bombs I had in texas. The EEL is growin on me, something about that whole bbq taste is kinda yummy if you can get past the fact yer eatin EEEEEL, still not bad.
I really need a haircut, probably wont happen before I skkeedaddle. So I'm thinkin Denver for Thanksgivin, go see some brothers, hang and do more big sky country. I need more big sky.
Hey heres another ramble, so ok I started drawing, ya really drawing... i dunno I need to get my ideas down. Grundy in Texas hooked me up with an artist so I can start piecing together some of the old stories, the characters I created down there.. and theres alot. I think I have 12 seperate characters, all with enviroments, plot lines, storys, theme songs, you name it.. kinda wild. I thought of mixing them all together since most of my skits are about 10mins a character segment. I started drawing some of the character and getting the descriptors down to see how this artist can take direction and see what he can dish out. I found the process of visualizing my creations really relaxing. I think with some classes i could learn to draw better and help break down some barriers i have to taking my ideas further than just the napkin sketch and comedy rant.
Well bound for big sky in just a few days, if you do anything this week, be sure to check out Jeni's at the north market and get a taste of the "5 pumkin spice" its yummmy!
Well… we haven’t head from dan lately. I believe the big guy is going to the big sky… state that is. Dan is headed to Montana, for work, and I hope all goes well for cowboy dan. He just went to roys boot shop and got some gator skin boots, which is okay by gator dave. Next on to get that hat and yer all all set cowboy… don’t forget the overalls.
I had a heart wrenching scare this week… at least is wasn’t with The football team (Buckeyes), but I’ll get to that another time. So my doctors office calls a couple of days ago and states that I need to call them “at my earliest convenience” and “we have got some disturbing news to tell you”. Of course I immediately think I’m dying of some disease I caught while I was in Africa or maybe deleware county or something. I got the message at 8pm so I couldn’t call until the next day. I called my mom and dad. Mom said it was wrong and It was probably a mix up in records and dad (the preacher man) prayed for me. Both good answers for me, but I was still crazy scared the next afternoon when I got to the offices.
Upon arrival my heart was beating at 15 million or so beats per second and I was feeling weak at the knees. Well, my legs made it into the building and I was surprised to see the office pretty empty on a Monday. But you know, sometimes that happens. At least there would be no one else there to hear the “disturbing news”. As I approach the counter I receive a look of shock and awe from the nurse. I think, “geez, I’m dying this week”. Then I look around. There is no one in the office but the one nurse. I also see many flowers and cards around the office. My heart starts to turn from instant ease to instant hurt again. I was then informed that my personal physician whom I had known for months as a doctor and a friend outside of the office had died suddenly in his sleep a few days earlier and the office was contacting people who he had known. This was a different kind of shock. Dr. Patrick Riley was a good friend, and an amazing and very giving person, who Really and Honestly cared for his friends and patients. He had confided in me that he had had some recent problems, but that things were going better. It had been about a month since I had seen doc’s smiling face and I was instantly very grieved that it had been my last. My heart goes out to his family and all of his friends and patients who knew him as a doctor and friend. Patrick, you will be greatly missed. I’ll see you soon, friend.
it's about 330pm, this time, and dave is on his way to the thrift store to buy a new computer chair (it's very comfy, by the way) and a yellow tshirt (you'll see on the next episode of the Dan and Dave show, Talkin Crap). 71 is backed up from 161 to past morse rd. took me 1 hour to move 1 mile (AAARRRGH!!!!).
anyway, got some phone calls made, including one to Melis. we talked about the new show King of the Jungle on Animal Planet. for those of you who don't know Animal Planet is my favorite and most hated channel. i love it for croc hunter and jeff corwin, but i hate it for that pet psychic show. but K of the J is a rip off, animal related, Survivor meets american idol. not only do these 12 inept contestants make the entire zoo ed./keeper/vet community look like a bunch of larry's (thats "goofs" to you who have not heard that term) but it was boring and horribly done. another strike for Animal Planet. the only saving grace is jeff corwin of the Corwin Experience. he is always funny and tries contiually to save the show. the losers are the contestants and Nigel (K of the J's version of Simon Cowell from A. idol...both british). Nigel is the "mean guy"/judge. not very nice, but also not very good. yeah, he's been bitten by an anaconda (very large snake), but i've been bitten by a boa constrictor (another very large snake) and i could be a better judge than that. He and Stan Brock (whom i idolize like jack hanna need to re-retire). poor stan (from mutual of omaha'a wild kingdom) barely says one word with all of Nigel's jabbering. no wonder the guy is still in tv, he loves to hear himself talk. well, i don't. the two hour premiere episode was boring and full of eco-egomaniacs. come on Animal Planet... you can do better than that.
well, i finally got to the thrift store and got this chair and that shirt, which i will sanitize before i wear it.
and the moral of the story... every Animal Planet show needs Gator Dave, taped live from his porch swing. Big... big... big... big... big... big- T's.
So I took Mimi, my Mini Cooper to the dance tonight. The Quaker Stake and Lube dance. It was goodness. About twenty five mini's showed up, we all went ga-ga over the John Cooper Works, well it did look cool, and most of the mini's there were S's. However, Mimi, my little mini standed out nicely as the stealthy gal in all black. I'll post some pics here tomorrow as I get them encoded etc. We had a few drive bys of the classic cars of old and a junker beat to hell car with a really loud messed up engine. The beer was typical coors action and I didnt win anything in the raffle.. doh! More pics soon... HASTA!
Oh ya btw, I played a few hours of Savage the other night. Get the hang of it? Hardly, but it was pretty fun regardless. I was choppin and shootin and dying.. it was cool. Defineatly a game for mike as the comander, or bob.. we need to play this sometime, after DanFREE 03' im sure heh.
first of all i hate it when you write a nice sized entry and the (excuse my language) goddamned error happens on your frickin' (don't really wanna say 'frickin') computer!!! but maybe that means it was too long.
first i want to give a 'shout out' (i really hate this term, melis) to my great friend from florida. it is my beautiful, wonderful ex-girlfriend melissa, from florida. she is the one who will be keeping me up to date on all of the sunny, margarita drinkin weather all winter long.
now my story... half the space... it's like story-lite, half the calories and no carbs.
the time 330am last night. no glock(thats a gun). just me, my 'hearing' dog (not the deaf one) and my cobra head walking stick that turns into a sword.
a rap at the door. not a loud banging or thumping (sure signs of an ex-) but a rapping. three raps and one robe later i answer to find two cops (i'm sorry, police) at my door.
they asked if they awakened me. i said "yeah". did you know there was a STABBING OUTSIDE OF YOUR BUILDING!?!?! life in the mexican ghetto. i said 'no'. they said okay, sorry to disturb you. 330am in the morning.
okay. i generally feel safe here. i know karate and 10 other japanese words (quiz me later, jon... or mike) and i can scream like a girl (wouldn't you like to know), so i just went right back to bed like it was a dream.
moral of the story... to bed by sunset and you won't get stabbed. we all know stabbing arguements happen after midnight.
So the weekend goes not much happening. Well a few updates. Freaky Tiki didnt make the cut, the sound just isnt there yet so no go on Freaky Tiki, one of two cd's I'll be cranking out this month. Barry Deep will take the place of Freaky Tiki.
What's all that mean? Basically if yer on the list to get a cd from me, you'll get one, if yer not on the list you wont. Whats on the cd? Music. Why? Cause. Every month I create up to 3 cd's of various arrangements for people who are on the list. Want on the list? Post a comment and I'll put ya there. Pretty simply really. The flavor of the flooz lately is lounge tunages with a deep house tone. Good stuff. So again look for Barry Deep coming to a flooz mailer near you!
In other news, Dave and I shot two more episodes of Talkin Crap yesterday. Our greenscreen while being all green, just needs better lighting. I'm looking into a nice professional lightning kit here soon for dual purpose work/fun. Until then our keys just arent perfect.
Anyways the episode to watch is KILL BILL, we caught it on the big screen yesterday and it was a fest of blood. Good flick though, not so good it'd take the top spot however. Still good flick, we especially like GOGO, the evil japanese school girl. The film itself is a mix of titles, anime and typical pulpfiction action. Lots of bodies, basically if you know what influnces a QT fan than it will be in there, John Woo, Battle Royale, Anime, mixed up time slates, going foward and then backward, Boogie Nights and more. Its all in there. And its worth seeing, I'll probably see it again this week just for GOGO heh. Acting wise its not much really, not alot of acting happening. I love the texas sherifs, classic men made for the screen. I disliked lucy lu, never liked her. Not much of the cast really stands out as "ya oh baby ya.. " aside from GOGO and her spinning ball n chain of death.
In other flooz news ive caught some of the anime out there reccently. Witch Hunter Robin is a new horror gone CSI theme'd series from Bandai. Animation wise its nice though not as fluid as I'd like to see. Character designs are very 70's paris styled gals and dark gothic boys and of course the token 90's hacker kid. So far so good the story is about a group of agents, the Witch Hunters sent out to rid the world of Witches. Witches it seems have started mixing tech with witchcraft posing problems for the world etc.. yadda yadda. Anyways, overall not bad.
Another new anime i've seen reccently is the new Ninja Scroll series. Ninja Scroll was originally a one off 75min feature that has called "the"ninja film for animated kids. Its good, plenty of action, superior animation and more. The series has alot to live up to if its gonna carry the Ninja Scroll name, however its about so so and not that incredible as the movie. New story, lots of different baddies, which is good, but lacks color depth at times. Sometimes i just feel like the animation budget got chopped up somewhere in there, the quality and feel, and story just isnt amazing enough.
The flooz will be busy most of the week but i'm sure dave will post some updates for ya'll as well. Ya know talkin about his swing and stuff.
So far so good. I can't believe it though. Avid, makers of Xpress DV, Media Composer and more, a program that i've been editing on since ohhhh 1990, a program platform that by far the standard in film editing, an app that runs from 250k to 1k is... FREE.
Yep FREE, Avid DV FREE came out this week. Its the interface, the core editing application of Xpress DV. Its the meat of the beast. For awhile there I was seriously considering buying Xpress DV for home so I could edit projects there with the same speed and skills i had at work. I really didnt want to learn anything new when it came to editing. Now I dont have to. I can go go go like a bandit boy on skates with Avid DV FREE. Its quite a move from Avid really, giving away their core app. Sure Xpress DV can still do more but just editing wise and getting stuff on the timeline, i dig i dig... me likey..
Its not broken either, plus it will handle low rez file types.. which seemed odd at first importing the 320x200 dark kitty movie.. that'd always make Xpress DV choke. But Avid Free says, sure ok now what. Yer limited to i think 3 video tracks and 4 audio.. still plenty to get the gist of things goin.
Hmmm just exported to QT mpeg 4, no problems... amazing. Just saved me 2k. Thanks AVID!
testing, testing, one two three four... testing
you go to a steak house for a nice, big, juicy steak, right? why, why, why the hell did i get chicken strips. i dunno, i just wasn't in the mood. anyway, i went to the old steak house i used to work at... if you need to know which one, just ask... with my greatest cousins sasha and james and some of my great friends like kevin and buz from the old band were there right?... great old times!!! couple of ice cold bud lights... yeah lite... im at that age now that it matters... i never thought it would be me... anyway, great to have a bud with a thick, juicy filet (sorry, veggie-heads), but i got the chicken strips. however, the conversation was good and the stories of catching up on everyones lives warrants at least two decent country songs (oximoron)... great time.
one of the stories include the cutest server girl in the world that kevin had "mature relations" with that just had her baby with her other boyfriend who was her best friends boyfriend (i think) that just got out of jail and all three of them (et trois) and nine months later... three days before she had the baby she got a restraining order on the guy and now she is moving into a trailer in like vinton county or somewhere so he can have visitation rights... this girl is cute... i mean jlo cute... well maybe not jlo, but scarlett johansson cute... i don't get it... song ideas at there best.
i got nothin on deliverables or mini coopers, but a big shout out to JD and jon and the rest of the gang from the mansion and starbucks land. im just another starving actor, but as long as i got my jeep i got love. mini coopers or jeep wranglers?... you be the judge. my new car is a 99 jeep wrangler sport... green with tan top... my dream car. license plate G8TR DAV... that's not "greater day" or "greater dave"... its GATOR DAVE!!!! how hard is that...
anyway... too much to read for my first entry... gotta go write them songs... see ya'll yonder
In between, these updates have been lately. What's up with the flooz? Hmmm last night I watched the Cubs kick ass on the small smokey screen of Fitzgerald's. Erinn, a nice gal I know at Starbucks dragged me out and into the bars last night. She's a political student at OSU, kinda interesting really the whole polticial career progression. Sometimes I think about that as a career choice. I could see her at parties with powerful folks. She's a straight arrow though, a kind of butt kickin Lois Lane girl. She'd be the one in the back of the room observering, heck studying her competitors and then blowin that story wide open! I'm not much of a baseball fan myself but the game was good, cubs were kickin butt last night.
Before I headed off to cubville I went to the second Mini meeting in town. Only six of us there, all with our shiny mini's very cool really. I'm not that die hard about the mini though. I mean i love the car but im not a car guy really. I love the image the mini gives me and the way the car drives is one heck of a bonus. I'm not used to good cars mabye. I've always had semi-par well, just cars. The mini is the first car that makes me think about weather. Its nice out, lets go west.. or it makes me think about the shine of it, the smile of it, aspects of it that id never consider really. I feel free, I feel fun, I feel possible in the Mini. Like taking tight curves and zipping around town, just feels fun.
I'm hard at work on my next two CD's for the Vann Swa'nn collection. My sister needs one stat, I can sense her thinking "dang i need another cd" while she makes Michael's lunch in the morning for school.
The next two cds in my Vann Swa'nn series will be Mondo Cocktail and Freaky Tiki. Progressivily as the series continues we round out the edge of the lounge vibe. I explore some new tracks from the Verve2 Mixed, some great stuff there, and get closer to the house beats of lounge. The Vann Swa'nn series came about as a result of one of my inner character voices, this time Vann Swa'nn, an swedish/austrian massage master who travels by boat and is accompanied by his wine beeetch. Confusing? Had to be there. Anyways, this is his series. He's all about the sound of lounge and drinking wine. He drives a mini and makes no excuses for his behevior. Hes free in ways i cant be, hes an outlet for me.
Mondo Cocktail will go with the groove of the fall time we're in right now and Freaky Tiki is more like my halloween album but stepped up a bit in sound. Its more groove and less vocal. Should be good either way.
Right now Ripcast is grabbing 8 streams of music, random choices i made this morning before i left for work. Four trance/dance stations, and four electic grooves. Should be interesting... you can look at the play list there, the flooz amp section of this site.
But I dont just rip music. Ripping tracks via the net is all random it just exposing you to sounds you want to hear more of. Speaking of which I got four new cd's just yesterday. Verve2, MiguelMigs, Alex Cortiz 4th album, and Back to Mine an Underworld remix cd. Verve2 is classic jazz tunes remixed but todays big deal house and fusion kids, track one is incredible stuff. Miguel Migs is a house pioneer, a solid deep house groove sound. I love deep house. I could listen to it all day, the fatter the sound, the fatter the vibe, the better. Alex Cortiz is my favorite lounge artist, anything he makes is golden, just buy dont ask. Underworld came out with their own mix cd of stuff they'd play after hours, its interesting mix. Groovy, and unexpected, thats been the general theme in music lately.
Generally seems like everyone is off trying to reinvent themselves. VH1's new logo indentiy package is all trippy bizarre and interesting. G4 tv gets just more and more frickin strange. I saw an add piece for Cherry City last night.. wtf is going on there, im a duck no im a lego, no im a duck.. interesting.
I got home after the cubs game with a bit of wendys and found myself watching Robot Wars, english accents and "destroy them muthers" can be heard all over. Robot Wars taken off? Faded off more like it. Just seems like a funny show concept, i like destruction derby like anyone else but all the loud annoucer stuff in it turns me off. "a smashing debut of mr nasty takes the stage and ooooooh look at that spike.. golly nasty is gonna be the bugger in the end.." just kinda kills it for me.
Work continues. Going to big sky country soon here.. sometime. Not sure. Need foodo! Lets see... what else. Ive done some changes to the mini video and told the local mini folks about it, they dig. Gonna see if that pans out.
Talkin Crap makes it way to the small screen. Dave and I cut two episodes this week.. just well... for the hell of it.
Comments? Questions? Suggestions on movies you'd like us to talk about? Is there a pressing issue you want us to address? Leave a comment and we will talk crap about it!
I've never used that term more so than I have this week. Everything is a deliverable. Whats your deliverable? Whos the deliverable? Why aren't we deliverabling right now? My god man we have deliverables here! Medic, deliverable down second squad post!
Deep down i dont want to be a deliverable but thats the name of the game sometimes. And ya know what? I decree that deliverables are only delivered on Mondays. No one gettin a report on a friday at 2pm is gonna read it. He or she will look at it Monday.
A monday deliverable gives the delivering team time to think about the deliverable and what all needs to be delivered, plus it has a safety net, a built in weekend of time to debate the deliverable. Thats whats needed.
I always want the buffer. I want the maybe so, I want the little bit of time that gives me a chance to pull up. Rushing to a deadline is not something I like. I think delivering teams should be lied to. Tell them thrusday, but then when they make that date, say no it was next monday. The team screams but has time to clarify.
I guess I need more sugar, gotta finish this deliverable.
Well new things afoot in the land of dan. Hopefully tonight I'll be posting two new episodes from Talkin Crap the new show from Dan and Dave tellin ya, well stuff, like it is man, take it or leave it! Basically the way we see it, movies, current events, games, books, cds, you name it, we're Talkin Crap about it.
I've been playing with the celshader alot too and have produced some interesting effects on flicks ive cut on the Avid as of late. Its a quirky app, its a hit and miss on working at times, definately not a feature i planned on paying for. Still Wildform's FLIX Pro cant be beat for its instant feature ability to do the cel shaded look.
I'm working on a fashionpixel redesign along with some changes coming up to floozy. I'm considering a whole color scheme change too, I dunno how that will pan out just yet.
MiniCam movies are coming together. I shot some new footage to go into my mini video though most folks like it the way it is lol.. like its one big paraody video. Heh. Still I wanna finish it out. I came up with a new camera mount for the front of the car, like a half pretzel arm reaching away from the front end and then up about 2 feet, if the brace arm can hold it, the wide camera lens is perfect, it grabs an incedible shot. I'm worried that it will just bounce all over the place though. So a more complicated frame needs to be made, like a ramming front end for the mini. Ya thats attractive!
Not much else happening. Trying to balance time between projects, so many projects. Websites, video, art projects, etc.. yikes. Need time for gaming and oh ya work.
Work has been crazy lately. Lots going on. Lextant is as busy as ever. Good stuff though, fun projects. Looks like I go to the ranch at the end of this month, gone to Montana. That should be interesting. Big Sky. I will be TOTALLY off the grid for that trip.
Speaking of off the grid i really need to go fix my hiptop! Dang it.
Thats the state of the flooz folks, stay tuned for Talkin Crap, the new web show yer dying to see! A new epsiode every week!
