rally me
I've been playin Colin McRae 3 on the Xbox lately. Seems like ever game I get I compare it to RalliSport, and yes Colin McRae 3 is good, its still not as awesome visually as RalliSport, but its damn close. You play as Colin himself driving, well punishing the Ford Focus through what seems like an endless arrangement of tracks. I really like championship mode, rally after rally after rally, occasionally getting a chance to fix yer car and do tweaks to things you just keep going. The car controls are good, a little to get used to as with anything but its good. And its a mode I rarely go for really. Typically you just get yer ass kicked by the AI, but in Colin McRae 3, its nice, its just you vs time. The graphics are really good and I love all the extras they put in; doors fly off, hoods get lose and then fly off, glass breaks, bumpers take damage and then fall off. The replays, one of the biggest reasons why I like these kinds of games are excellent as well. They dont give you as much control as far as cameras and such goes, but the standard mode of playback has sweeping camera moves and each playback camera knows the track, so they arent just car targeted cameras following the car around with different views. Some cameras wait for the car to whiz past a turn, then follow it, then go pull back and then zoom in as it goes thru another turn. You can tell they put some time into making killer relays come to life. Another nice thing is lack of music, no music but the roar of the engine and some good dirt flyin. Theres music in the cut scenes etc but no music invades yer driving. On rally games i dont like tunes, but games like Midnight Club 2 or Need for Speed, they are a must heh. Anyways, get Colin McRae if yer a car games nut.
I picked up Need for Speed 2 on the PS2 as well. Its crazy fast with cops chasing you, killer graphics on the PS2, and I like how you can play a cop as well, adds a little interesting game play.
Course with the Mini Cooper on the mind I've been playin the Italian Job alot as well. I've finally gotten the hand of driving with Italian Job's semi whacked stiff control set. The missions arent bad but I hate it when they force you to race an AI controlled car thur a city you just got to and its like find the X now go... i mean the AI guy knows where it is.. you just got there. Anyways, still fun. Italian Job has a nice open free for all play mode as well. I use that to learn parts of the city etc. And theres tons of little jumps, car carriers, malls, steps, hills, parking garages etc. to drive thru.
I've been eyeing pics of GT4 on the PS2, the screenshots look incredible. I hope they can pull it off successfully, the game just looks amazing.
Work is crankin along nothing new to add there. Aside from a huge ass spider that is walking along the glass right now... he's massive. What a cool thing. But it has to die.
Well we've had a pretty amazing weekend here in cowtown usa. Saturday my room mate, Jon, told me he was off to the skatepark and then it happened, I got that idea thing goin. Skate Park, ya know i've never been to one in ohio, hell I'll go. I grabbed my low quality dan arsenal of crap and headed out. Hiptop'd the world on Worthington's small but usable skate park facilities and broke out the Kodak Mc3 for video capture.
Not so 24 these days. Need to catch up on things. Laundry soooths the swollen mind. My home made margs are coming along nicely but at steep price... last night I think my extra lemon tart back fired and cause it sent me upstairs half alseep. I've been making alterations to Vicki's original recipie, little this a little of that. I like the fresh fruit added at the last minute. I think i need to lay off the sour apple and let those natural flavors come through.
The second cd is called "texhnolyze", named after the new animated series from the makers of Serial Experiments Lain. Its a dark and strange anime that well with the new Junkie XL and Matrix flavored sounds ive come across lately. The first track "guardian angel" is the opening sequnce track for texhnolyze and is produced by Juno Reactor, one of the kings of flat out trance. Its sounds a bit retro even since this kind of trance is kinda never played that much any more. Its kinda quick. Heh. Still not so fast that is annoying. So we open with Juno Reactor, cut to Junkie Xl, and then spill into the Matrix Zion track I love so much, just a great song really, Fluke, good stuff. We stumble into Lamb which I've shyed away from for some reason, but a very good sound. I'm like that with music sometimes, stuff I know I'd like I dont play it, as if to give myself time to rediscover it.
